The St. Martin’s Day feast is inseparable from the celebration of St. Martin’s Day. It is celebrated on 11 November and symbolizes the end of autumn and the arrival of winter. St. Martin’s goose belongs with the feast.
The basis of St Martin’s menu is a roast goose with cabbage and yeast or potato dumplings. Legend has it that St Martin hid among the geese before his appointment as bishop. But the geese gave him away with their quacking.
